OSP: Language and Representation Blog Tasks

1) Make two lists - one of website conventions used on Marcus Rashford and Kim Kardashian's official website and one of social media conventions found on their Instagram pages.

the context of his upbringing makes hima reliable figure to the working class.

5) How does Kim Kardashian's website and social media promote other media products or websites using the Kardashian brand (e.g. Keeping Up With The Kardashians TV show)? 

she has a link to all the things shes been involved with so that its easy for fans to access.

Representations

1) How does Marcus Rashford use different aspects of mise-en-scene (e.g. clothes/costume/ settings/locations) to create representations of himself on his website and social media? 

on the front image of his website hes dressed up in a suit looking down at a camera and hes standing against a dark background which has connotations of power

2) What examples can you find of website pages, social media posts or aspects of his brand that create a positive representation of Marcus Rashford? You may wish to comment on his discussion of family or his campaigns - his page on the FareShare campaign website may help with this question.

he has donated and helped work with fareshare and donate to charities to help end world and child hunger along with money that hes donated to book charities that help provide free books for young children

3) How does Marcus Rashford's online presence challenge stereotypes? Think about gender (masculinity), race/ethnicity, social class or football here. 

while most footballers stick to only football marcus rashford challenges that and makes his online presence about charity and helping others along with football.

4)  What representation of celebrity is created by Kim Kardashian's website and social media? How are audience encouraged to view celebrity? 

kim kardashian is viewed as a glamorous role model for makeup and fashion.

5) What gender stereotypes are reinforced or challenged in Kim Kardashian's online presence? 

Kim Kardashian reinforces the stereotypes of women having to look perfect all the time. she reinforces the stereotype of women changing their appearance to fit the expectations of other people. however she has also donated to multiple charities like breast cancer research and baby2baby charity which helps with supplying baby supplies to parents who can't afford it.

influencers build parasocial relationships

7) What representation of beauty is often found on Instagram or other influencer sites?

clear skin, small bodies, perfect teeth, perfect makeup.

8) What is YOUR opinion on influencers? Are they a positive or negative influence on our society and culture? Why?

some influencers have a positive influence on society as some people use their platform for good. Influencers who use their platform for good and talk about the problems around the world have positive influences but the ones who fake their lifestyle and feed of of their fans leave negative impacts.
